97 Maxima 3.0 auto trans Question

I own a 97 Max with 87K and wanted to know if a slight whine is normal when i'm driving at 35 to 40MPH while in the overdrive gear--When i disengage OD with that button on the shift selector--The slight whine goes away--Thats how i know the whine is there only when in OD but only going at slow speeds 35mph... 50 60 70 mph you dont hear anything!

I just wanted to know if this was a normal sound for these cars... The trans fluid is clean and red and it shifts 100% perfect!!!

It's funny but my Max just started making this sound a few days ago. It sounds like a hiss...like a muted turbocharger spooling. I'm not sure what's causing it either.

I used 2 drive w/my overdrive off so i'm not too sure

My 1995 maxima with 224,000 makes the same whinning, muted turbo noise. But it's done that ever since i've had it(at 210K miles). Tranny shifts fine so no problem for me

AGH what is it with maxima owners and their auto trannies doing weird things? I've heard enough bad stuff about the maxima's auto tranny already...come on people, ignorance is bliss!:D
