a buddy of mine has a 95 saturn sc2, well he has been named the miracle boy because the car is fast a hell for some reason. we all picked on him because he paid $8,000 for the car from carmax ($5,ooo for the car and $3,000 for warrenty). but the weird part is he has beaten just about everybody who has raced him,and the car is bone stock!!!! down to the air filter. somebody help me this makes no sense!!!! here is the list of wins and losses. keep in mind these cars are all manuals and have at least 1 bolt on power upgrade of some sort.
WINS:
1) '00 acura integra gsr
2) '96 dodge neon DOHC w/ turbo
3) '03 ford focus svt
4) '97 saturn sc2
5) '89 toyota supra (that race was a joke)
6) '96 honda civic w/ b18 swap
7) '94 nissian 240sx w/ NOS
8) '01 toyota celica gts
9)4 different '92-'96 honda accords
10) and finally a '97 toyota tacoma w/ turbo
LOSSES:
1) '04 acura rsx type s (he won bye a foot of his front bumper)
2) me and my brothers '84 rabbit gti w/ DOHC 16v swap and turbo
(completly stripped out and runnin' 18psi of boost,
only won bye 6 feet or so)

sounds about right, if im not mistaken thats the same motor as the sunfire GT and the Cavalier Z24. Its a 150HP 155 TQ, 2.4L DOHC Engine. The real advantage to this engine is that its gets its tq so low in RPMS it pulls really well off the line.

You guys have some shitty drivers in your town. That DOHC Neon stock would kill an SC2, much less with a turbo.
I remember my old Air Force buddy had one when it was brand new ('94), and my then stock Fiero, with a whopping 140HP V6, beat him regularly.

Perhaps he was lucky enough to have about the same complications that made it fast as hell like this one. (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=29493)

yeah that story is a bunch of crap...a very large amount of crap to be exact...the amount of crap that is in the story is larger than the car hes talking about...and speaking of the car i think the large amount of crap that is in the story might be faster than the car with its whooping 124 hp

first off all let me say im sorry my little bro got into my computer and wrote that B.S here's the real story. The integra was an LS not grs, the neon was a SOHC w/o turbo, the focus was a ZX3 not a SVT,the civic was actually a '93 with the original motor, the '94 240sx was really a '90 model w/ a 30 shot of NOS and a motor w/ 196k miles on it, the celica was a '92 gts not a '01, and the tacoma was turbo, but it was a crappy back yard job and didn't work right, and finally MY rabbit is only pushin' 12psi not 18(i wish i was). the truth is the saturn is not stock it has a lightened flywheel and a pacesetter header which came with the car when he bought it.

Whoa, whoa, whooaaa... Don't be so defensive right away. I believe you....sorta. But still, that is a little suspicious considering you were so quick to try and defend yourself. The best way is to take it the calm route. Don't let one person get to you. If you say that's how it was, then we can only assume that it is either the truth or a lie. That's how it really is a around here. Not very many people can actually back up their stories. I can say that I can't, but it doesn't mean everyone is going to believe my story. Just let it go, and deal with it. late...

goto www.saturnmotorsports.com, the ion's there are setting all kinds of records. They run low 7's in the 1/4.
If they put an ion engine in my car (which is 700lbs lighter stock by the way) it would run 6's.
So get the hell out of here.

No, but a twin turbo saturn ion that runs 195+ trap speed has more than 140hp. Try more like 700-800.
I have a turbo 200sx se-r which runs low 12's & a supercharged s2000. Before that I owned an sti, which I sold because the s2000 is a lot more fun.
When you have a saturn sc2 that makes 124 hp/120 tq, & you put 10 grand into bolt ons drag radials, skinnies, extrude honed head, extremely aggressive cams, cam gears, re-sleeved block, 5lb reduced crank, tec III, & tons of other parts, you don't get 140hp. A n/a saturn (no nos) limit is around 220hp, 210tq. Take a 2032lb car w/ 200 at the wheels, & you get 13's. That tq is available throughout the rpm band, as compared to a honda.
And when I said an ion engine, like I said if you knew how to read, you would understand I meant if you took that 800hp ion engine & put it into an early 90s saturn, like mine, which stock weighs 700lbs less than an ion, well let's see 800hp / ion's prob 2500 curb weight gutted, removing 700lbs more would in effect add over 100 hp easily.
Compare a 2500lb w/ 700hp to a 1800lb car w/ 700hp.

How in the world did you calculate those exact numbers. There is no mathematical formula for calculating power limits. Naturally Aspirated or not.

Very well. I will challenge your knowledge of the cars you own.
1) What is the name of the motor your 200sx has? And what other cars, USDM or JDM, your choice, does it come in? What's added onto it to run 12's?
2) What year is your S2000? Who made the supercharger for your S2000, and what is the name of the S2000 Motor?
3) What year was your STi? How much horsepower did it have? Any mods? In what respects is an s2000 more fun to drive than an STi?
4) "When you have a saturn sc2 that makes 124 hp/120 tq, & you put 10 grand into bolt ons drag radials, skinnies, extrude honed head, extremely aggressive cams, cam gears, re-sleeved block, 5lb reduced crank, tec III, & tons of other parts, you don't get 140hp." If this is the case, what hp DO you get?
5) "That tq is available throughout the rpm band, as compared to a honda." What is an rpm band? Do you mean a powerband? How is it that a saturn has torque available in its powerband, yet a honda doesn't? As far as i'm concerned, when a car is in its powerband, the torque WILL be there.
6) "And when I said an ion engine, like I said if you knew how to read, you would understand I meant if you took that 800hp ion engine" I know how to read. Now can you please show me where you implied an 800hp ion engine?
Ok, if you can successfully answer these questions. We can move to round 2. (I know you can probably answer 1-3, because you will simply look it up online.)
(BTW Redneck, please don't close this thread or ban the guy yet. I'm having fun here :) )

1) What is the name of the motor your 200sx has? And what other cars, USDM or JDM, your choice, does it come in?
2) What year is your S2000? Who made the supercharger for your S2000, and what is the name of the S2000 Motor?
3) What year was your STi? How much horsepower did it have? Any mods? In what respects is an s2000 more fun to drive than an STi?
4) "When you have a saturn sc2 that makes 124 hp/120 tq, & you put 10 grand into bolt ons drag radials, skinnies, extrude honed head, extremely aggressive cams, cam gears, re-sleeved block, 5lb reduced crank, tec III, & tons of other parts, you don't get 140hp." Here's your pictures:
Those are numbers that are approximated based on people that have pushed the limits of saturn motors. Just like you can approximate wheel hp by using 10-15% power loss to wheels in fwd if you don't have a dyno.

If they're only making that much power, they haven't touched the limit at all.

Don't know why I bother.
It's an sr20de w/ a turbonetics t04e my friend. In japan turbo oem sr20det, gazelle, pulsar, avenir.
It's a 2000, the fastest year. In what ways? no 4 door family car look, no stupid wing, a leather interior instead of suede, no oversteer w/ sti, sti is a lot heavier, & no convertible top. f20c, comptech supercharger w/ aftercooler.
I kept sti stock, sold it shortly after i bought it. 2004, stock 300/300.
never dyno'd saturn, no dynos around here.
If the torque curve is extremely peaky, there is no tq avail practically except at redline. a flat tq curve is a lot more desirable.
Owned? I've had 8 cars in the past 3 years, I'm 23 I have a master's degree & I own my own house. Based on the cars you own, you don't make very much money.
Oh, and there won't be any round 2.

All searchable on Google. BTW, I have an SR20 also. Okay, what manifold are you using, and prove THAT with pics of the mani. What car did yours come out of? Red-top? Black-top?
It's a 2000, the fastest year.
Are you dumb? I've been a member at S2KI.com for almost 2 years now. EVERYBODY in there acknowledges that the 2002+ cars are faster, with the 2000's being the slowest.
What's YOUR S2KI.com username? Ever heard of them? I can ask their Rocky Mountain S2000 Owner's forum for you, if you want.

I don't know if you are saying the STi has leather, or suede, and vice-versa for the S2K, but the STi had neither leather or suede as an option.

always loved them since 92 when I was 9.
By my calculations, 1992 was 12 years ago. 9 + 12 = 21. Maybe my math is off?
Oh, and there won't be any round 2.
Oh, c'mon.
Not saying I am totally right, but you came off like a Saturn fan-boi, and I can't picture a mature adult, capable of paying his own house, much less two or more cars, being a fan-boi of anything.
Prove me wrong.
