Went to Court - Development

Hi,

Got a ticket in PA early summer doing 83 in 55 zone. Went to court today, and pleaded guilty with explanation and got the charge droped from 28 over the limit to 5 over the limit (so, 60 in 55 zone).

Someone told me that the 5 over the limit would not be on my driving record, and would not affect my insurance.

First is that true, for PA residents?
Does / will it apply to out-of-state residents (e.g., Maryland)?

thanks - Pinoque

If you were a PA resident 5 mph over in PA would not give you "points" on your PA license, but it would be on your driving record.

Since you are in Maryland, that is going to be up to Maryland. There is a contigency of 46 or 48 states that share driver's violations with each other and it is up to the home state as to what happens to your driving record.

PA does nothing with out of state citations unless they are major (drunk driving, evading & eluding, vehicle manslaughter, etc ...)

You'll have to check with the MD DOT.

Why would you want California insurance in Utah? ... your rates would be much better in Utah.

Secondly, that's not legal to use a different address for insruance other than where you are living.
