Possible Transmission Update?

I had read an article stating that in the '05 model year the tranny was going to have a tow mode to only shift into overdrive at a higher rpm.

Does anyone know if we can get this patch applied to our existing 545RFE transmissions, similarly to the update to turn a 445RFE into a 5 speed?

thanks

I haven't heard anything.typically,if it ain't broke, chrysler won't fix it,they would prefer you to buy an '05.I personally would not expect anything from them. They usually don't do anything unless it's to address a problem

I had read in some dodge forums that you could go in and request a patch to apply the 545 to your 445 tranny on the dakotas.

Was this possible on the jeep 445s as well?

Also, is the new tow mode system just a software change to the existing 545, or were there hardware changes to support it? If not, I don't see why you couldn't at least request the update.

thanks

the first problem that I see is that in '05,they changed the modules. The older ones had a seperate pcm and tcm. Before they used a JTEC controller, now they call it NGC controller.now its all in one module.unless it uses the NAG trans then it still has a seperate tcm but that is only on the WKs with a 3.7.And yes they did come out with an update that changed the 45rfe to a 545rfe and that was for jeeps

xj, thanks for the info, given the control module updates it doesn't sound like I'm going to be able to get that upgrade.
