Gears and a shift kit will be a food change for it.

I am doing the same, but adding a set of '01 heads/intake w/heads ported/polished from a GT Stang. There are other goodies that I am doing as well to get all I can from this 4.6 without touching the bottom part, being, complete exhaust,cold-air,throttle body,air-mass,stall converter,street/strip tires, wheels, and the gears..I want all I can get even with a Diablo to set it all up for the Strip/Street when I choose to go.Yes its going to cost some, but if you look you find some deals around,I even bought the '01 motor along woth another '96 4.6 just in case something happens while trying this out or racing it..I use to be a Chevy man till a friend that builds Stangs got me interested in this 1 here. With some help from him and alittle work look to be on the road soon..Good luck with your Modding and hope all works out for ya.. :smokin:

Where are you getting your cold air intake from? I've looked around for one but I haven't been able to find ont that fits a '95 4.6L.

a CAI is kinda worthless (IMO) if you use the stock MAF. Your ramming in all this amount of air, but it still has to pass through the same/stock size hole. It still should give you a small increase, but not $150's worth ($150 est. avg. price of CAI)

A port job on the stock violin case (for us 94/95 V8's) is the best way to go. Free, and easy. Port the 5/16's lip, and remove that little object molded into it near the middle. (Look down it and you'll see what im talking about). A removal of the silencer might help. I've heard that even a conical filter (ONLY) is over kill.

Best mods that i've heard of are actually OEM parts. MK8 Driveshaft, MK8/Maurder TC, J-Mod (free, just need know how, and tools; and its better then Transgo or B&M). Gears would also help, but gas prices dont seem to be shrinking.

try living in jersey. my SC is $967/6 months for just liability

exhaust, intake, and pullies, like everyone else mentioned, is your best bet to start off with that's relatively cheap. if you wanna go all out, get an AED supercharger kit.

I think the increase in air, tho, is found through the cold air's density. One cubic inch of cold air is much denser than one cubic inch of hot air, at equal pressure. Cold air is going to be much denser than hot air, as a small amount of air heated up will take up more volume than cold air. So even tho they are going through the same size opening, more cold air can enter that opening at one time, than can hot air. Kinda the same principle of a turbo charger, except the air is not being forced in (unless it's ram air - but that's another thing entirely). Bleh.

I have not done this in my car, tho, so take if from those who have. If they don't feel that the gain was worth the cash/trouble, I'd listen to them.
