I was wondering if the 96 Prelude VTEC was the H22A engine or if it was a different one. I am thinking about buying the car, but I want to know what sort of engine it had in it before I bought the car.

It is the H22A, just look on the engine block.

When the word "prelude" and "vtec" are in the same sentence, you are pretty much guaranteed an H22...
