Summer tires suck in the winter, winter tires suck in the summer, all season tires suck all the time.

I live in Idaho and run low pros (toyo fz1's I think) all rear around. I just get them siped - makes a world of difference. Some low pro's you can't sipe though - but I drive in 2-3 inches of snow with them and usually don't have any problems.

Racing slicks are badass on snow and ice.

But seriously, get some skinny pizza-cutter deep-tread studded tires on all 4 corners...

bridgestone blizzaks.

awesome on ice and snow, better than normal street tires on the strip. snow tires are the poor man's drag radials

i just got goodyear viva2's all the way around and im getting better traction in the rain that i did with my random tires. The drivers side front which gets the most power had a kumho tire on it and i get better traction with the goodyears that i did with that. Once i started accelerating in 1st fast, i would hit 4k and start spinning if it was wet out. With my goodyears i dont spin as much.

Still shopping for tires? What size and price range? If you are serious about safety and performance opt for dedicated winter and summer tires. If you need some help choosing a specific brand or model let me know.

sipe? wtf

Siping is sort of putting small cuts in the tire's tread to help with grip (aka tread on a snowmobile).

Look at some here: http://www.nokiantires.com/newsite/tires_popup.cfm?id=1&w=1

I got 4 Kumho all season tires from the Tire rack for $140. They have a pretty deep thread. Not bad for the price.

All seasons are fine. Traction is for sissies...LMAO unless you drag/street race I guess.

Traction is the ONLY thing you have connecting you, your car, and your life to the road. What good is 600 bhp/500 ft. lbs. of torque if you can't get the power to the ground? What good is a $5000 coil-over, camber-plated, strut-braced, poly bushing'd set-up if you can't create lateral resistance to use it? What good are $3000 binders if you can't create the friction necessary to haul you to a stop on the 1320 (or at the corner stoplight for that matter)? All season tires are a compromise of performance and safety. I'm not willing to overlook the importance of either especially when I've invested what I have on my car's upgrades. It's not just about street racing/drag it's about emergency lane changes, stopping to avoid a kid darting across the street, resistance to hydroplaning in a downpour, being able to parallel park before the plows reach the street, and keeping your car on the road on an icy day. If you have the means do yourself and your vehicle (which I'm sure represents the fruits of many hard days of labor) a favor and buy dedicated winter and summer tires.

Hey bro, guess what? I just met with the rear wheels of flatbed cutting me off in the rain and I avoided a crash because of my ALL-SEASON TIRES. So suck it!
edit: Sorry. I was still a little edgy when I posted this. But yeah, if you have the money and if where you live the seasons are extreme and you have the hp to boot, then spring for two separate sets of tires.

I took It to my brothers friend who gave me a good deal on some tires. I have a lot more traction but I couldn't get an alighnment because the bolts were permently rusted to the car even when they were heated red hot they wouldn't budge
