99 Tahoe running rough

I have a '99 Tahoe that was running fine until I was coming back from out of town (OKC back to Dallas). The cruise was on and all of a sudden, I started to loose power. I thought the truck cut off, but it was still running. I had to tap on the gas to pick up speed. I couldn't use the cruise for the rest of the trip (it wouldn't stay set).

After returning home, it was fine for a couple of days. It's ok when I start, but after I get on the highway, it will start to hesitate, and I have to tap (up and down) on the gas. It will also loose power if I'm going up a hill. At a stop light, if I try to gun it, it will also hesitate. Same with trying to accelerate while going 60+ mph.

I've heard different things...air filter, gas filter, plugs, wires, distributor, air sensor, etc. What is the easiest way to correct the problem? Where should I start?

I had the same problem. Replaced the fuel filter at 98,000 miles. Haven't had the problem since. Plus, it's easy and cheap.

First you need to find if you are losing fuel pressure , a misfire condition or a converter starting to clog up

They say to replace the fuel filter every 30k miles.
