HEy all,
i was woundering if anyone had any suggestions on where i can get a reliable low to no milage motor for my cutlass seeing how i threw a rod threw my block. and if any one had a handle on whether or not i can up grade my engine with out having to totlay replace the tranny, for instance if i wanted to lets say bump up to the 3800 series or the 4.2 model that gm makes with or with a supercharger, for their auroua and buick lines. any suggestion or guiding lights will be greatly appricaited :-)

Well if you wanted to upgrade the engine you would have to upgrade the trans and everything. Plus it would be a tight fit for the larger engines and they might not fit, actually you would have to modify the engine mounts because on the other engines they do not have the same mounts as the 3.1L. You could have the 3.1 rebuilt with a new block, they are usually very good after a rebuild, or you can get one from a junkyard that has low mileage. Well hope that helps.

I recommend stock.
There are more engine swaps planned and in progress than will ever be completed.
The junkyards I frequent are highly reputable and most motors come with guarantees.

You really have the knowledge and facilities to perform this task and all of the system modifications that this would require?

I have found that very rare on message boards.
