HICAS...or not

I was just wondering, for a 1991-1994 coupe how can you tell if the car has HICAS or not? Was it only in some models or was it an option?

Also my friend blew a head gasket on his 240 coupe, he was wondering if it is an easy job that he can do himself or is it a hard job to do and he should just take it to a shop?

easy way to find hicas? look beside the ignition.. if there's a little button-like thing there (right beside the rear wiper blade button on the fastback) then it has hicas. another way is to look for the hydraulic pump right behind the diff.. it'll be obvious.. another way, which is the least common of all, is more of a split idea... i'll integrate them for you...

yea i think hicas would really interupt your way to being the dorikin. LOLz..

easiest way to find out if you have the hicas or not is to look at your car. If it isn't a hatchback, it isn't a hicas....only hatchback models come with hicas options. Since you are talking about coupes, no coupes ever had hicas.

it only works at higher speeds, and it adds grip, well more turning ability. THey are right, having a car with HICAS won't make you the "dorikin" but just saying u want to be that is rather gay and poser-like.

try either one. without hicas, it'll feel like (God forgive me) an mx6.. WITH hicas, it'll feel like nothing you've ever felt.. its like your rear wheels are yelling at you to speed up for the turn..

the hicas never came as an option on the coupe i didnt know that, doesnt mean anything to me really tho

HICAS just gives you that much more shit to break in your rear end when drifting.

thats why you a) buy a 240 without it or b) take it out after you buy it if you want to drift.. and i hear its a nightmare to fix if anything goes wrong

For daily driving, HICAS is pretty nice. We have it on our Z32TT. We do tend to take it off if we're auto-x or just don't want it to break. I wouldn't mind to take it off nor would I mind to have it.

I have Hicas on my car and Love it. THe car handles nicely.

once i have my suspension in, i know i'll be juicing in my pants going on off ramps from the highway.. i think HICAS is awesome.. i don't dislike anything about it

ohhhh..... i don't know but my friend car has HICAS and ....well really its the same... i don't mean its BAD, but it gives an under steer feel to the turn when taken at high speed. In my car if I push it, the back reacts as usual with the back starting to come loose...


"dorikin" what is that… I’m not a poser or a drifter, I’m just a driver. And as a driver I think HICAS on the 240 in MY opinion MY preferences IS pointless. I can control my car very well with out it. (I crashed 5 times… it took me quite a bit to get used to the back getting loose on me….)

wow! now wonder i can go double the speed limit on off ramps, so my 240 must have hicas. Cool! BTW AWDSR20, how do you practice making the backend come loose, ive tried but ive crashed 2 times already, could it be that the hicas interferes?

ok this is my way and it not teh best...rol 1 gear, shit to second at 2000rpm floor the gas (i have the sr so i wait fot teh turbo to spool) buy the time u reach 4000K turn to the right and then snap to the left and floor it (keep it under ctrl, below 6000K) counter steer. at high speed (mid 3rd gear) break hard(befor the turn), down shift, hold it at 5000K teh rear will lock and the back will come out, if ur too fast use the hand break...
i'm sure many wil have allot ofideas to add on ..
i'm no great drifter or anyting....



BTW i crashed 5 tims and yeah i did it in parking spots or out in the wildrns... i have 2way LSD and 205 in the rear. AND AAA!!!!!! (flash light is needed too!!)
