I was at a stop light yesterday and all alone then an FD RX-7 pulls up right next to me, now at this point I was about to sh*t my pants because in VA.beach you never see an RX-7. So this guy's girl starts talking a little junk and finally he started to rev his engine. The light turns green and we both burn rubber his car grabs and takes off and Im still toasting my tires. Some where around 40 MPH I grab and the chase began I was walking this B*tch down then two red lights later I was beside him doing about 145 and I glance over and at that point he looked at me and looked down at his instrument panel and he let off the gas.At the next light we both stop there and his car cut out and was smoking like hell. Now being the nice person I am I got behind him and pushed his car to the next gas station 2 miles away.It seems that his car blew a rotor ro something like that.

Not sure you can blow a rotor... but he might of blown an apex seal.

But whatever, what've ya done to your car? I hope you respond quickly, cause the nay-sayers should be showing up soon. And they'll throw bull poopy all over your story in two shakes of a lambs tail.

oh and I dont have 490hp I have 314 to the wheels if I had a TPI system I would make the 490 but I have A TBI system I ran a dyno run with a TPI system to see how the car would react but I couldnt keep it because I couldnt afford to buy right now.

Ummm, Bullshit.

There's no way you'd gain 176whp by going from Throttle Body Injection to a Tuned Port Injection setup.

That is an absolute lie. What else did you have to change to get such a jump?

Also, a 335 stroker? Isn't that a 305ci block with a 350ci crank? Odd combo, but do able.

What kind of compression are you running?

Cam specs?

Aftermarket Heads?

Lay it on me.

I bought the car with all of the stuff on it honestly I dont really know everything thats in the car the only mod I did my self was the exhaust.

-The Stig-
11-18-2004, 08:56 PM
Oh, by the way.

Please don't say you're running some sorta LT1 hybrid motor. That uses a Multiport Injection setup.

GM's generation II engine, the LT1, was introduced in '92 in the corvette and was rated at 300hp. In 93 the new 4th gen F-body arrived with the LT1 rated at 275hp. There are some significant differences between the new engine and earlier small blocks.

Among them are the opti-spark distributor located on the front of the engine behind the gear driven water pump and crank balancer. The block, heads, timing cover, water pump, intake manifold and accessory brackets are not interchangeable with the earlier smallblocks. Engine mounts and the bellhousing pattern remain the same.

The LT1 is reverse flow cooled meaning the water flows through the heads first then the block, instead of through the block and then the heads as is standard. Reverse flow cooling is a function of engine design and does not require a special radiator. An overflow tank is necessary to ensure there is no air in the system.

Would it be possible for me to dump a new LS2 motor in my car with minimal modification to the car?

Um Okie...

Have you dyno'd your car? For reals.. like in life. Not using a program like Desktop Dyno 2000. Which only measures crankshaft horsepower (gross hp). Not wheel horsepower (net hp).

Please don't spat off performance numbers you aren't positive of. It can come back and bite you in the ass, like it is right now.

Z28 Drifter
11-18-2004, 09:02 PM
Yes I dyno at Virginia speed a mile from my house.

-The Stig-
11-18-2004, 09:03 PM
Ummm No.

First off. The LS2 is a Gen III block. Not only would you have to custom fabricate new mounts, but you'd have to spend days rewiring the complicated ECU wiring harness into the car and it's systems.

It wouldn't be easy.

Secondly. The LS2 motor is brand spanking new. I don't even think a crate motor of one is available yet from GM. Let alone a full turnkey version with all the electronics and doo-dads to make it go vroom.

So finding one would be next to impossible or uber-expensive.

If you're looking for a great motor, buy an LT1 crate and build from there. It'll bolt right in, only headache you'd get is the wiring of the ECU. But from what I understand it wouldn't be all that complicated.

DRIFTIN' AINT EASY

Wait...so you're telling me you drift a Camaro?

Z28 Drifter
11-18-2004, 09:08 PM
I thank you for that bit of info and I wish I could tell you more about my car but the fact is I no nothing about american cars, I have ben an import guy all my life and I bought the camaro under peer pressure so I dont know what Im looking at Im just taking the previous owners word for what is in the engine.

11-18-2004, 09:11 PM
Ahh ok, I found a LS2 crate.

Here. (http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/ChevySmallBlockV8s/LS2.html)

But I can't seem to locate a price.

Z28 Drifter
11-18-2004, 09:15 PM
The LS6 was $6000 so the LS2 shouldnt be much more than that right?

11-18-2004, 09:21 PM
Yes I drift a camaro got a problem with that!!!!

No problem at all sir.

I'm just wondering....how in hell? You need one hell of a suspension setup to drift a 3300+lb, automatic, "straight-line-bound" car.

Z28 Drifter
11-18-2004, 09:24 PM
Well it actually is a 4200 LB. car and well I try you know. The cars gets side ways easy but maintaining the drift is hard as a B*tch, any driving pointers?

-The Stig-
11-18-2004, 09:28 PM
Your Camaro is about 3500lbs.

Fully loaded with average driver weight (160lbs) gas and fluids. It'd be about 3800lbs.

Well, its easy to get any car sideways. My friend's SUV's can go sideways. But "Sideways" is hardly the concept of a drift.

Ah I found the price, $6,375.00

But as it shows, it's just the motor. Mentions nothing of a ECU or Harness.

I thought yourc ar was highly unstable at those speeds.

145 and I glance over and at that point he looked at me and looked down at his instrument panel.
Wow ... looking at each other at 145 mph on a public road.

Now being the nice person I am I got behind him and pushed his car to the next gas station 2 miles away.
You pushed him on foot or pushed him with your car?

Well, the average person walks at a rate of 4 mph ... so that is a 1/2 hour walk without pushing car ....
