Nope, stock does a fine job.

A higher performance coil will give you a hotter spark burning more gasses thus being more efficient. I put a Moroso Pro Coil in mine and noticed a difference in pickup and mpg. It would be a good investment in the long run.

What people see when they replace those is just a new coil in comparison to maybe their older coil that was on its way out anyway.
On a normal non turbo or supercharged engine, it will yield nothing.
As I said before, our coils can fire a beefed up 454 so a 4.3L is child's play for it.

I really don't believe that a simple coil swap will gain you any benifits, and it would take a dyno test to convince me otherwise.
I believe that any power gains are in your head, which is fine if it makes you happy

Very true, mental horsepower is a real with a lot of these mods out there.

How many miles are coils good for?

More or less.
Swapping one out after 10 years or so might be a good idea, but people swapping them out thinking they will get more power are just out for mental horsepower.
