I was wondering, would it be a good idea to get the engine built?
I want to know what all that involves, the price tag on it, and all the benefits of having it done
Thanks
**EDIT**
Also, would it be better to just go ahead and get my engine build instead of buying an SC, and then buying one a little later on down the road?
Thanks again

Since your car has a fairly new engine (seeing that its a '97), I don't think you need a rebuild. If you plan on going SC route, I don't think a rebuild is required unless you have over 100 000 miles on it. I read if you want to do a SC, you can run that on stock internals, so I think if you have enough money, then do the SC now.

I was talking to a guy and he said that if you get your engine built up, you can gain almost as much as an SC.

OK, I think we're talking about different things here.
Are you talking about building up the bottom end of your engine? Or are you talking about rebuilding your motor? I think in both cases, you will not get as good a gain as a supercharger. If you could, why wouldn't everyone just spend less $ and build up their bottom end?

But, wouldn't the engine last much longer and be able to be ran harder?

Crower has a stroker kit for the 5g that involves new cams, crank, pistons, rods, ext. 40+HP at the wheels. $4200.
Why spend so much money? Turns your 2.2L into a 2.5L (sleeved) and you have high boost capabilities, and dont have to worry bout blowing anything.
This is the route im taking. Stroker kit first. Then turbo/SC.:bandit:
