clutch does not disengage

I had the clutch replaced in my 97 Cobra last summer. Seemed to engage very high to me(way up at the top of the pedal), but was told that it was fine. Shifter went into neutral position when I depressed the pedal, but when I turn the key the car jumps as though the car is in gear and didn't put in the clutch. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? Called the garage and they said to have it towed to a tranny repair shop, but can't tow if it's in gear, right? Please help!

A transport company can get your car to anyplace reguardless of brakes on, in park, in gear, no tires, etc.

I dont know about 97 cobra, but the 93 LX has instructions in the owners manual about the clutch adjuster... read and see.

Basically you put your foot under the clutch pedal and lift, this engages a wratchet mechanism that re-adjusts the cable slack. .... just a thought, mine says to do it every 8,000 mile or so.

your problem is with your cable adjustment. if you still have the original clutch (self adjusting) quadrant i would recommend getting rid of it and buying an aftermarket firewall adjuster. Then you can manually adjust the cable by turning a set screw type ring and not have to rely on the quadrants, which are cheaply made. additionally, the wrong adjustment will eat up your throw out bearing prematurely and then you get to hear it chirp and click.
