I have found the choice of 17" tires to be very limited. What have you bought and what do you think of them?

I know what you mean! I posted a plea for help a few weeks ago. Never got any replies though...

Seems like there's only a couple of tires that come in 245/65/17. And once you rule out the OE tires and the other garbage, it seems to me like all you're left with is the:
Pirelli Scorpion STR-A - decent reviews but not great in snow
Michelin Cross Terrain - poor reviews, generally regarded as overpriced crap
Toyo Open Country A/T - great reviews, concerns over being too aggresive to suit the TB and reduced fuel economy

Our local tire shop is trying to convince me to go down a size to 235/65/17 (changes the total diameter of the tire by about 1/4") which opens up a few more choices. From these they are recomending the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza.

What have you found? Any other options to consider?

Check out Tirerack.com for TONS of tires for the truck. I think in the size you indicated, there are only about 5-6 different models. I'm going to upgrade a bit to 285's which are only about an inch taller. BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO's are my choice. Had them on a truck previously, and they were sweet. Wore well, got excellent on and off road traction....

I think I can get them in 20's as well :)

275/60/17's will get you close on diameter and still give you more width.
