Key/steering column question

Hey all, I actually just signed up to this site to ask a question about a friend's Altima. She's got a 2000 or 2001 GXE and the problem occurs when she removes the key from the ignition. She says it's like a "magnetic force field" that holds the key in . . . it's not friction or a mechanical hangup, but it's like trying to pull two magnets apart.

Does this have to do with the computer chip embedded in the key itself? Could this be something very insignificant? Is there something we can do or will it just work itself out?

Thanks guys and gals . . . much obliged.

How strong is the "Force Field" (lol) because if it is just some minor resistance that I would say that it is normal. If it is strong, then you may want to get it checked out. Does the key need a little grease (possibly)?
