DX Turbo Kit

I own a 1995 Civic DX with the D15B7. I am looking for a turbo kit for this car. I really like the Greddy kit, the cost is right and the turbo size is good for this small engine. Greddy only lists the kit for an EX model, but I don't see why it couldn't be used on a DX. I know these models have the same intake and exhaust manifolds. Any body ever tried to use this kit on a DX engine or see any reason why I couldn't?

Thanks in advance,

I had the same problem as you I have a 95 DX Coupe
and Im pretty sure the exhuast man is not the same as the EX

I've also found some companys list intakes as EX/LX only not made for DX yet others sell the same kit for all models so Im not really sure whats up with DXs

I think for the money it would be better spent on a B16a swap

I thought about turboing my engine the 1.5 but its just such a bad engine to start with

btw I've found a few places that make exhuast mans for 1.5DX engines

so if the exhuast man really is dif you could always swap that for the kit one and ebay the one from the kit

I'm pretty sure the exhaust manofolds are the same pattern. Every header I've ever seen for these models (including the DC currently on my car) lists for any 92-95 SOHC engine (EX, DX, LX). I heard the throttle valve was in a different location but I've looked at an EX and my engine and the look to be exactly the same.

Jackson Racing sells a supercharger kit that they say fits the 95 EX, DX and LX and it even includes an intake manifold, so that pattern must be the same. Drag's turbo kit for that model says its for ANY 92-95 civic.

I spoke with a Greddy rep and he said that while the components should bolt up fine, the kit isn't designed for my engine? I personally think they don't want to be liable for any damage to what is not Honda's strongest engine. But at the 6 psi of the Greddy kit, I can't see how you could damage the engine, provided you don't ever run lean.

I've considered an engine swap, but I don't want a ton of power, I'm only looking for 200-230HP, which this engine should be able to handle.

I would seriously save up for a B16 swap. You will have better luck down the road and ALOT more aftermarket support. And plus it's a DOHC so you can tune it better than a SOHC.
