You can get hids that are basically plug and play for like $400, just make shure you get the ballast and that its realy an arc discarge set up because lots of people sell H4 lights as hids which they are not.

This might sound crazy but a few weeks ago I went to a mall neerby and when I was entering the lot a cop pulled me over he came up to me and said "never mind, sorry to bother you. please move along sir" I was like ok, thank you and very relieved but I didnt understand why. So I park and I walk by and see like 7 people in cuffs and beign packed into troopers. well there wher cops all over the mall, everywhere you looked in groups of 4 or 6. they where stopping every single car with HID and asking the driver to show proof of purchase. I dont think they arrested anyone for failure to show a reciept but still. a buddy of mine got pulled over too and lucky he did have his reciept, he was happy as hell that they pulled him over cause he has had his HIDs stolen already. so watch out bro and if you do get them toss the reciept in the glove box. I dont know if its in every state but they are starting to pay attention to this stuff.

The tint on your windows probably made it look like you were black, so they pulled you over. :p

Lol they're special headlights, you see them alot on lexus' and european luxury cars. Theyre the same tech as is used in alot of industrial lighting fixtures (like street lights and lights in public parks). They work by jacking up the volts wicked high and then causing an arc through xenon, the arc is what makes the piercing white light. They are allso reffered to as xenons or arc discharge lights. HID is an acronym that breaks down to High Intensity Discharge.

It's bright as hell and looks wicked nice. Lights up the road VERY well, lots more natural like daylight.

Honestly something sounds bogus about the story of people not having receipts for there HIDs. I think the issue is that some forms of hid lighting is illegal. I actually at one time had headlights in my Stealth that said right on the box, Not Legal for Road Use, or For Off Road Use Only. I didnt care cause they were nice as hell. I never got any trouble for them but that is wheer I think the issue may have lied.;)

No, the problem is alot of people have been going around stealing HID kit, they break into all sorts of cars and jack the HIDs. about four months ago some 21 year old kid got popped for his rims, two guys shot him seven times in the chest and stole his car, a 2004 maxima. well the investigation led to one arrest, the accomplice said they killed the kid to steal the rims, some 20 inch spinners. two more kids got killed later on and thier cars also stolen after that. about three weeks ago a huge sting went down and 35 where arrested in some Chop-shop around the Broward-county, close to 68 stolen cars discovered in the shop. they stole the cars and parted them......the number one Item on thier list where HIDs. fearing that more such theft will be commited the police is now asking for proof of purchase of such items like HIDs and huge freaking spinners. its not just a crime to steal them but also to buy stolen goods. I dont think they will arrest anyone for not having thier reciept but they can set up a court day to prove you bought them legally and if not then fine you. the people that I saw in the police car where probably also in possesion or something. the point is so many cars are getting jacked that cops finally did something right and start pulling over big ass Escalades and Navigators to see if the TVs in the seat and the 24 inch spinners are legit rather then pulling me over cause "your exhaust is too loud". I say better the gangsta rappa wannabe then the speedracer freak!

Thats insane! The weird thing is do you know how difficult it is to integrate a factory style HID system, such as one from a BMW into a totally different car??
Musashi3000GT
11-19-2004, 12:36 PM
Well it can be done but yeah, its insanly difficult. not to mention most factory systems are not independent and wont even opperate in other cars. but yeah man what I find even crazier is that some people out there will actually buy a stolen HID with no warranty and no installation just cause its 100 bucks cheeper then to get it professionally done.

Yea well they don't work by heating up a fillament so they don't produce very much thermal energy or low wavelength light. There for less energy is used because primarily light is produced and not heat and there is no filliment to burn out.

there is no such thing as a wire that will transform your lights into HID and HID bulds are just imitation crap. a real HID kit will run between 400.00 and 600.00 bucks for our cars.

Speaking of headlights, I have a 1st gen and my headlight bulbs are ancient yellow halogens. Do they make silverstars for my car? How would I find out?
MahdiVR-4
11-20-2004, 05:48 PM
Ya they have them, I have dose light bulbs for my car. If you go to walmart or the best is autozone and ask what kind goes on your car and they will tell you, then go to walmart because its like about 8 to 10 bucks cheaper at walmart and buy some they are really good. I am about to go buy some for my foglight.

You'll have to get some H4 conversion headlights, not that expensive. Your regular first gen headlights are enclosed so you have to get ones that allow you to switch H4 bulbs (like silverstars) in and out. And wallmart is the place to get H4s.
