Who thinks the new DMC's will be successful?

Mr. De Lorean has the connections, the experience, and more than likely has some cash stashed away somewhere (Swiss bank accounts?). But will they sell?

Ok, there are two versions of the new Delorean.
The first is the ultra-mega-cool version with a 13liter (yes, that's 13liters)V12, which is what the concept art car is supposed to have. This car is supposedly 85% complete.
The second version is an "affordable" version boasting a weight between 1400-1500lbs, mid-engine producting 250-270hp, with gull wing doors, and all that for under $30,000!
I got all this from http://www.deloreantime.com

I think the "economy" versions will be highly successful, whereas the expensive versions will sell very few just as any real sports car does. Of course, a 13liter v12 sounds damn cool.:D

Whatever the outcome, he was (once again) a trend-setter. I'm now reading how Pontiac will be releasing a newer two-door sports car to replace the Firebird. It too will be powerful yet amazingly cheap. Other cars on this bandwagon are the Nissan Z, Mazda RX8, and Dodge Neon.

My god, 13 liters? Thats absurd! I want one :)
Yeah, Pontiac is making the Solstice, Dodge is making the Razor, the new Mustang Cobra gets 390hp, and you can up boost for 500hp...
Sports cars are making a comeback! Lotus is supposed to be preparing the M250 for a return to the NA market, Alfa and Maserati as well.
Z car, RX-8, Opel speedster, BMW Z5... everything looks so sweet...

13L is too large, first that ammount of power would require such a strong drive train, second that engine would weigh a ton, the weight difference will mean -0- handling. And for how light that is...if the block was aluminum...for that size it should weigh 700 pounds at all. So wheres the rest of the weight?!?! This is such a joke, make me laugh HA HA.

Sorry, my bad. The link in the beginning of this thread was for the watch which he is trying to sell to the very, very wealthy.
The car is at http://www.deloreantime.com/deloreanIMG.htm Watch his interviews... doesn't he remind you of ol' Hank Marusek... inventor of the Air Train?!?!?
The concept art is on another Web site (illegally) because Mr. DeLorean doesn't want people to know what this baby is gonna look like...

The difference is: Mr. DeLorean created several muscle cars at GM, then opened his own car company in Ireland, etc... He has built up a reputation for doing things. You, on the other hand, have not. I would not believe either of you unless you put your money where your mouth was...

you asshole flamer.... (kidding) :flipa:
If the car pans out to be true at
-too lazy to quote- It will cost close to one million dollars and will be powered by a 1250 horsepower engine!-/too lazy-
it would never susceed, the name alone would kill it for the short reputation in comparison to Lambos or Fararis (sp)
but if the econo ver pans out to be true I give it a chance. And eather way I would love to own one but I doubt it will end up built like its been claimed.

I agree that the upscale model is a bomb (unless it seriously kicks the Vector's a**).
The econo version is closer to his idea back in the 1970's. With the electric car craze, he should pursue an altenative powerplant...

Haha yeah, t'would be nuts. I drove a 87 Jag XJ12 once, I think that was only a 5.3 V12 and it's trip computer only showed 4 mpg when I floored it :lol2:

a 13L engine would be 798.2 cubic inches. no. its poosible, theres a cadillac withan engine almost 14 litres, but, no. that would be odd.

do you mean the cadillac sixteen? if so than its only a concept for now, so it will be interesting to see if they keep it a 13.6 litre engine. It will also be interesting to see what happens with Delorean's ideas.

As much as I would love to see Delorean make a comeback, there is no chance in hell, even if John Delorean was still alive (which he isn't). I think all this talk of new Delorean models coming out have been rumors and made-up forum speculation from the begining. And what is all this BS I hear about a 13 Liter V12? Lets see some proof. That is completely outrageous, I can't believe you people even consider it or try to calculate how much it would way. It's obviously just another made up rumor with no factual basis that will spread like E. coli to other forums. It really wouldn't be logical for a car company to make a model with both a V6 and a V12 available, too much of a gap, to broad of a price range for one car. I bet this DMC-2 forum is only up because someone made a typo of DMC-12.

Dont be a prick about it.
Way...no its weigh
why is a v12 such a gap? Why not have something like that, a major performance model?
The car was an idea, and was in the design stage. Although it never made it I would love to see the car make it into production. I would love to see another, modernised D without the major restricitions the US put on the first which made it far less the sportscar it should have been.
*forced to raise the front up quite a bit
*major smog restrictions, worse than normal cars at the time
*forced to reinforce the frame, which added considerable weight and not much else
so please...stop with flaming everyone who talked of this...especally when its several years old...
