noisy lifter and what?

hi,

ny of you had to deal with a noisy lifter on these 3800?.. i get one once in a while...and it goes away.

and i can hear something that has to with the serpentine belt ...i started the car this morning and i had no problems at all.. no noise, nothing.. i got to work and there was a slight noise from the belts like a a squeeking noise at idle... i shut down the car, wais 10 secondes and start it up again and there is no noise for the first 5 secondes.. and then it comes back...now, 2 hours later i went back into the parking and tryed it again and its the same story...

waterpump maybe? or maybe sand from the streets thats got the serpentine belt dirty ..we got sand on the streets here coze it's damn WINTER here...

i'll get the car clean with a pressure hose and check it out..

any of you had a noisy issue so i can get an idea... i hope its not the water pump..

oh and what can i put in to stop the noisy lifter? any kind of special additive you guys use for that?

Deadring, Its comon, depending on how the temp is and how you drive that day and oil quality makes a difference. If the motor is dirty internally, clean it out with some engine gunk and flush it a few times. Clean it all out.. Use a good oil, not cheap stuff.. makes a difference.. But generally, They all tick, Mine does at time, nothing really you can do other than a rebiuld which is not needed at all.

so it will stay that way :)

But I am sure with a Flat Cam, you were having poor performance and drivability problems too.. As we all know, deadring has a heavy foot! hehehe..

heyyyy wait now! it's not my foot thats heavy ...it's uuuhh... gravity's fault! yeah that's it ! :)

as for my cam being flat i doubt it at that mileage..i got 140000 KM on it and the way it pulls from a stop light, its got not flat cam :) im under 9 seconds 0 - 60 still so :)

oh and the lifter.. the only one dong it as it's moments.. sometimes it wont do it for 2 days and then come back..

Your fine deadring... how did the sqweek come out?

well, i found the source and its a bender pulley next to the waterpump thats doin it... i put WD-40 on it and it stopped instantly.. and came back the next day...
and now, we just had a big snow storm and now weve been at - 20 degrees celsius for the last 2 days.. and the squeek is gone... it'S a normal as it can be.. i'll wait till spring or when it sqeeks all the time... its seems to not be so urgent so i'll wait.

i crashed my buick in the snowstorm....i realized that a 3800 LBS buick does not handle turning corners witht the handbrake( i love doin that..) the same way that my 2200 LBS 1990 corolla did..

got the 2 left wheels up against the sidewalk in a BANG effect..after the collision, i thought the wheel would now have a camber like at nascar ..or the wheel would be UNDER the car...but there was so much snow,that the car go up on the sidewalk and was stopped by ice-snow.. so maybe i had unaligned the front ( or back) wheels.. but everything is A ok...

just got a remember that stupid law of inertia...it can be a handful when you add 1500 LBS to a vehicule...heheheh

you should see the old(er) people who think it s aa 90 year old guy driving my car.. and then all of a sudden athey see it turning the corner in a rally style turning :P

So what were the damages total? Yea the car isn't awsome in the snow, thats why I put it away for the winter and drive a saab 900... hehehhe..

damage is minimal to a big nothing... at the limit, i MIGHt be talking about a rear wheel bearing that seems to humm a little at 55.... but thats it..

i got lucky that time.. but the weight is not neglectable when it comes to slippery roads.. 3800 going at 20 MPH sideways becomes a vector with a big mass and nothing will stop it.. well a sidewalk will.. :)

Well at least thats all that happened.. could have been worse.. I would get that bearing replaced if necisary. Probably an allignment wouldn't hurt..
