Squealing

My friend has a 98 GP SE and he says that when he puts it into gear it squeals horribly and feels like one brake is on when he trys to make it move? I think he has relatively low miles on it (not sure how many though) Any ideas what could be causing this? Something transmission related? Thanx

It could be low transmission fluid. I would also check to see if the serpentine belt is slipping. Could be the problem.
