transmission error codes

My 98 Tiburon FX has had the check engine light on for almost two weeks now...I brought it to the dealer thinking it was a sensor or spark plugs or something, since it only slightly hesitates when switching gears...the codes the mechanic gave me were P1709 and P0747--he said one was for a kick-down sensor and the other for a PCSV--I was wondering if anybody thought either of these was worth fixing--the mechanic suggested that instead of making these repairs I just ride the transmission out and then replace the whole thing.

hay my girlfriend has an 2000 tib that has the same problem but it just started doing but the shifting problem has been doing it for a month but then just today the check engine light came one. so alls im asking is would it happen to the 2000?
