I got rear ended last week by a jeep cherokee and my ls took it like a champ actually. Cosmetically looks bad, the chrome trim is cracked and there are some deep gashes in the bumper cover but other then that everything seems fine. My trunk is not aligned perfectly though. And i hear a noise when going over bumps that sound like my windsheild or my dash. Anyways. Besides the cosmetics the rear bumper has no dents at all or anything, and the chick hit he going pretty fast. Pushed me about 6 ft with my brakes on. Anyways an inspecter for her insurance rote me a check for $800 to get my bumper cover and trim replaced. Do you guys think i have some internal damage that the inspector may not have seen? I want my car to be back the way it was and thats all. Hopefully a settlement can help me get some rims because my neck hurts quite a bit...

I don;t know about the neck, but I'd have a dealership check out the underpinnings. There is likely MUCH more damage than $800 can fix.

I would have that checked by an independtly shop. My wife was hit in the rear in her 03 3.5 SE Altima. The exhaust was busted near the cat, the bumber cover, some bumber insert was mauled and they had to replace a few other odds and ends.

Total damage was 2100 dollars. From the exterior it really only looked like a cracked bumber cover and they figure she was hit at 15 to 20 mph while at a FULL STOP.

ya i was hit at a full stop too but probably hit much faster. we'll see what the collision center says. They already noticed when i dropped it off that my fender was bowed and my trunk was bent.

I am not a litgious person but I quickly found out that some of these insurance companies will try to cut you off from recouping losses. Fortunately, I did not have to retain an atty this time but it was darn close. Stay on em' like stink on BM........W's

they found more damage when they took off my bumper cover. Both shock absorbers were broken and so was one of the bracings. Also the chrome bumper trim was not repairable and is being replaced. My flowmaster exhaust cracked at a weld and they will only reweld it, thats the only thing that i am pissed about.

Is the insurance company going to fork over the rest of the $$$ for the repairs.
