So in a moment of stupidity on my part, I was driving my 89 NA Supra on a desolate road on my way back to school and ended up driving much much faster then a should have been, especially since the car just broke the 250,000 mile mark. When I began to slow down, I noticed a rather unpleasant knocking sound comming from the engine. I had my car towed back to my apartment for a closer look. It sounds like the sound may be comming from underneath the cam covers but odly enough, the engine seems to be running fine with the exception of the horrible clanking sound. Any ideas as to what this could be? Any advice would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.

Heh... knocking noises you say... i have just experienced a similar problem. are you sure that your knocking is coming from the upper engine. and not the lower engine... if it is the lower engine you might have busted a bearing on the crank.
not cool. BELIEVE ME i know.
this has caused me to start work on changing it over from a 7mge to a 7mgte.

This is exactly what happened to my last engine. I spun a rod and had to scrap my block because I carved a replica of the grand canyon into the cylinder wall. Wow,that really sucks bro. It brings back horrible memories. Good luck with that. Take it as a chance to upgrade the engine. Keep the car and stay supra.
