Ive been thinking of doing a supercahrged VR4 for a long time. Ive actually decided to sell my current setup and get that.

If anyone is interested in going TD05 let me know.

ya, the Ripp mods SC is pretty cool, its supposed to handle up to 25psi of boost. however, to turn up the boost you gotta swap out pulleys. i'm sure they TT guys would rather like to just turn a switch or hop on their boost controllers/EMS.

Talskinguy--> what kind of lag do you experience with your turbos?

obviously with the SC setup, lag is never a problem...immediate power on demand!

how much are you looking to get ride of your TD05 setup for? i've jsut got a 93 DOHC, so i'm sure the TD05 is too big for me, but just curious.

Scrath that, I thought I edited the post, Looks like I missed it, but after further research it only supports up to 500hp, I can do a lot more with my current setup.

Keeping what I have right now.

one smart thing with this would be and upgraded crank... there the first thing to go bad after awhile.....idk i am seriously considering this...it would be cool.... but not as much power as turbos

And why do you need to upgrade the crank? Also, if you did you arent going to get any power just from a new one.

I doubt a 3s can handle 25 psi with the stock 10.5 compression pistons. 8 psi max IMO. but hell yeah I've been waiting for RIPP to finish up that sucka, by the time I save up the $$$ for it they should of worked out the bugs and tweeked those kits real nice.

IPO has been running around 28 on the stock 10:1 block for a while.

let me correct myself....not a NEW crank but a hyperformance 1.... you dont need one but from what i hear...they are the first to go.....idk i am going to get a better one when i finally also get the money for it

28 on the stock 10:1 pistons? dude thats amazing! I thought for sure that would blow the motor. I mean most stock applications dont run 28 psi on like a 8.5:1 turbo ready piston, let alone a high compression one. but live and learn I guess.

You DO NOT need a new crank. PERIOD! The stock DOHC crank is forged from the factory. It can withstand massive amounts of boost. The guy IPO that talskinyguy is referring to finally blew his motor after a miscalculation with the boost controller and not enough fuel to support his boost. He shattered all the pistons but ended up reusing the same stock 158k mile old crank in a quicky rebuild. With enough fuel you can run insane amounts of boost.

Ohhhh man it's finally here!!!! oooo-lala, now quick question, how much of a milage drop do you think I'll get with a supercharger on a DOHC engine?

well I just spend a half hour on RIPP doing some research and it is really frustrating that those pricks havent finished the kit. Its obvious all they care about is the money, I understand as a business you gotta make money but why do they suggar coat it? why not come flat out and say it "we would like to invest time into this but only if we get a free donor car and you cough up 4000.00 buck to cover the kit" Seriously, its taken them 4 years, I kid you not 4 freaking years to finally come up with this kit. WHY DID THEY WASTE SOOOOO MUCH TIME ON THE SOHC?????
the sales rep was complaining that the sohc kit did not sell as well as they hoped (REALLY, WOW EINSTEIN NO JOKE?) and so they where thiking about dropping the DOHC project all together. he said the Tiburon owners where really interested and really helping out........no crap! Tiburons are cheep ass slow wannabe sport cars, I could own three tibies with the money I spend on my 11-year-old REAL sportscar! why did they even bother in the developement of the sohc at all, do the hard stuff first and then finish off the easy projects, any dumb ass project manager will tell you that! they say they finished off a prototype and will post pics soon........yeah about freaking time but with the respect and interest they've shown towards us it will be easily another 6 months before they even get it to a track and another year before they work out the buggs and get a true dyno-tuned fuel management to support the mods. so screw it, I give up, these guys will just get side tracked again and who knows, maybe the Scion tC group will show real interest and support. BOOYAAH

I would assume because the DOHC could become TT for cheeper.
