arite it was recently my birthday so i got a couple new performance parts for my 4cyl 00 gs. i received and successfully installed a new cold air intake, and a new performance muffler. i installed the cold air myself, and had the guys at a local muffler shop weld the muffler on. My question is that about a week after installation my check engine light came on? im wondering if these mods effected the computer. Also i changed my oil a couple days before the light came on, and just checked my oil today, its at really high level, ima take some out tomorrow. i need help. thanx.

yes the cold air intake could be setting off the light. did you reset the ECU? if not, this is how you do it. disconnect the positive battery cable for about 15 mins. then connect it back, crank up the car, and let it idle for about 5 mins. if that doesnt help, then you could have installed the cold air intake wrong. sometimes when installing the cold air intake, people push the pipes to far into the couplings. this causes turbulance inside the pipes and can trip the engine light. check those out to see if that helps

usually though, these eupgrades dont trip the light. make sure your gas cap is on tught. not having that on all the way will trip the sensor, also... on the CAI, did you mount the air sensor unit back in the same place (or close to)? failure to do this can also trip the light. im ot sure on the oil though. call your local dealership and ask them. they might know.

you do know that putting too much oil into your car is just bad too

the EGR line on the intake is probably loose, clamp it down.

Check all the vacuum tubes that are attached to the old or new intake..make sure they are all attached again.
If that doesn't work, take it to Autozone, have them check the ECU codes(they do it for free). Typically those mods don't throw CELs.
