Headlight sensor

My headlights go up on my 1995 Firebird and stay up. They will not go down during the day like they used to.
I believe that there is a sensor for them on the dash, but can't seem to get to it.

Does anybody know how to do this?

Does the motor make a sound when you turn off the lights?.
I know of people with this problem but its usually from ground down gears, Also have you tried manual putting them down. If you don't here a sound when you turn off the lights most likely its a problem with the relay.

I don't believe that it's a problem with the motor because the headlights go up and down when you turn the vehicle off and on. The motors seem to work fine. It's as if no light is getting to the headlight sensor to make them go down.

I'm sorry I have no idea in the world what your talking about because the headlights are no light activated on your year, As far as I know but I was questioning if it made a sound not if it was working but one more question, Do you have keyless entry? .

Yes, I do have keyless entry. My headlights are also light activated.

Are you from Canada because the Canadian f-bodies had a light sensor on the top of the dash that would turn the headlights on automatically when it got dark. I'm not sure where exactly the sensor is at but I think it's in the defroster vent on the dash, if so it may have come dislodged and fell into the vent where it's dark.

Yes, I am from Canada. How would I find the sensor if it's dislodged. Do you think there would be an easier way to find it then taking the dash apart?

This is the info I found from searching, quoted from other people.

"93-96 cars have the sensor mounted in that round thingie thing in the dash to the right of the defroster vents"

"My T/A has got one. It's a circle thing that is on top of the dash on the passenger side. Above the airbag and a bit to the right and below the defrost vent."

"A couple of things, 93-96 cars have the sensor mounted in that round thingie thing in the dash to the right of the defroster vents, that is easily accessible, 97-up cars have the sensor buried down in the defroster vents, a real biotch to get to."

Since I don't have this on my car I can't take a picture of it or anything but if you find it you might want to get a bright flashlight and shine it into the sensor and see if it makes the lights turn off, if not I'd replace the sensor.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I was able to find it by popping up the vent. The headlights are again working.
