Shaving the fly wheel?

A friend of mine is planning on shaving his fly wheel for his manual '99 SC1, which he says lightens the fly wheel in return adding more torque
my blonde question of the day is: would that be possible? and if so, would it give the same benefits on a auto '97 GS?

get a shift kit and an upgraded Torque Converter fot the AT. huge difference. a lightened flywheel just means less rotating mass. good for autoX when you are doing a lot of rev matching. normaly it won't make too much of a difference.
