5-speed shift knob

Does anyone know how to remove the knob off of a 2000 altima 5-speed. I wanted to get a momo knob as a replacement and am having difficulty taking off the stock one.

it should just twist off. Underneath is a white plastic fitting, and mine would just spin around. So i ended up just cutting the damn thing.
