Colon Powell resigned just now, whats with all these resignations? Could there be something seriously wrong with the upper echelons of our government?

That's too bad. I think he was planning on this for a while though. Politics at the top is most likely very stressful. Some people can handle it and some can't.

Yea I guess it is a deecent time to resign in his position, didn't want to stick to it for another 4 years.

He didn't want the job in the first place. It's not uncommon for the Cabinet to resign after four years. They burn out being on call 24 hours a day for four years, in the most hectic jobs, making choices that affect the entire planet.

"A Cabinet makeover is not unusual for a president who wins a second term. By late November 1996, seven members of President Clinton's Cabinet had announced plans to leave. After President Reagan's 1984 re-election, about half of his Cabinet was replaced. McClellan said departing Cabinet members will stay until successors are named. "

Colon is an organ. Colin resigned. As stated above it is NOT uncommon for the cabinet to get a lot of new faces in the second term of a president. Powell said all along that he intended to leave after one term. Condi Rice is his replacement. She will do well.

^ I was gonna say, the ass hasn't retired yet, Bush is still there, but sadly, the only intelligent person in the white house, Colin Powell, has left.

I guess some folks don't remember our last two term presidents. Perhaps the names Clinton and Reagan come to mind? Both second terms for both presidents saw a large turnover in the cabinet. There is nothing unusual or bizzare about whats going on. Rumsfield and Ridge will also step down but not until sometime next year.

Remember, the cabinet serves at the discretion of the president. Virtually all cabinet positions will turn in a letter of resignation. The president will refuse the ones for the people he wants to keep on and the others he will commend on a job well done and let them go. You just don't hear about the rest that have been turned in and he refused to accept (its rare that a cabinet member will turn in a resignation form with the actual intent to leave without first discussing it with their staff and the president).

haha... i dont think that was an accidental mistake.

your right colon...punctuation.
colon ....currency of costa rica and el salvadore
colon .... organ

now if we examine the last one it even sounds right.

the colon is a section of the large intestine that connects the cecum to the rectum.

cecum is also known as the "blind gut" rectum.. the asshole.

so that would make colon the part that connects the blind to the asshole?

By resigning Colin will be able to distance himself from Bush if he intends to run for President. Now he can claim he left due to Bush's policy and perhaps pick up some votes from the Democrats. Hmmm....

"Condoleezza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings"...

cant remember who said it, but I found it comical..

AS for Colin running for president or such, I dont think that sounds like it would happen and I dont really see what he brings to the table that will make me think otherwise...

Why not?

First Colin said when he first came on that he was only going to stay for 4 years. Also like stated it is common for the cabinet to get changed around.

Second, reguardless of color or gender. I think that Colin would be the best presidential candidate all around that we have seen in a long time. It is unfortunate that he will probably not run though.

why do you see him as the best?

I think that he is well rounded as a candidate for many reasons. He obviously has the military strategy down based on his experience. He has been great in international affairs. He knows what is going on with finances in this country. He also isn't above everyone. He actually interacts with everyday folks like us. I really don't want to get really indepth with this, but that kind of sums it up abit.
