Hi all,

I own a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I had recently had my car battery
replaced, which caused my delco radio/CD player to "LOC".

I tried the following unlock procedure:

1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3
digits of the 6 digit display code are displayed (If it displays 4
digits you have a 4 digit code so, skip step 3)
2. Write the numbers down.
3. Press the AM FM button, write down the next 3 numbers
4. Call 1-800-537-5140, when asked, enter 206010, (the 2 is a Pontiac
dealer, the 06010 is his ID number) press the *
button and enter the 4 or 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an
unlock code, write it down.
5. Go back to the car, and follow the model specific instructions from
the owners manual to enter the unlock code.

At the end of it, the display changed to "SEC", but it is stuck at
SEC. There is also a cd inside the player. According the the manual,
as soon as the display changes to SEC, the stereo should be
operational. But it didn't happen for me. I don't know if it is to do
with the cd stuck inside. Is there a way to get the stereo to normal
operation mode?

Please help. Thanks.

Austin.

Well I tried pushing the on/off button numerous times, but nothing seems to happen. Even the eject button (or any other button for that matter) doesn't work.

I am not sure then.... my car was locked also and I had to get the code and then I just pushed on/off the volume button and that fixed it.....

I suspect it has got something to do with the cd stuck inside. When the battery was replaced, the cd inside the player had popped out, but I had pushed the cd back in then not realizing the player was displaying LOC.

Do you think it would be a good idea to disconnect the battery again? I expect the cd to pop out this time too. I could retry the unlock procedure, this time without the cd trapped inside.

Yeah it is worth a try.

It worked!!

Not exactly as I had expected though. The cd didn't pop out this time, but I had pressed the on/off push button really quick as soon as the SEC sign came up. I think that was the catch. Last time there was probably a long gap between the SEC sign appearing and the on/off button being pressed. So it hadn't worked.

Thank you very much for your help!!
