my 96 z24 does the same thing. it used to be real bad. the engine was skippin b/c the ignition box was misfiring and it was burnt up. i had it replaced and its not as bad but it still lags when im gettin up to speed.

well,..... lets start with some things here... are you still running stock equipment? ( i.e. black air box. factory plugs) .. all auto matics have a lag period while gettin up to speed.. i have ridden in and drove 4 other cavaliers just like mine with same engines with all different modifications... when stock they act like they are suffocating constipated all at once...adding an intake will let your car breath easier... this will make your car more reactive and pedal responsive.. upgrading your ignition will help as well.. creating a hotter spark will allow you to burn all the fuel.. the gey GM 4-1 header are the worst ever.. 4-2-1 allows the car to well pass gas alot easier... then the addition of a high flow cat will make it even more regular.. then a performance muffler... the best performance wise car i rode out of the cavs in had.. CAI , nology hotwire, NGK plugs, grand prix fuel injectors, obx headers, magnaflow high-flow cat, and apexi 3" muffler... and with a 10lb tank in his trunk that added a little giggle juice... that car was very responsive... for your problem. try changing your fuel filter and see how your injectors are spraying...

its funny, sometimes i think mine ran better before doing all those mods, lol. i mean, when city driving (slow)... i put a bunch of ''go fast'' goodies on it & now it hates to go slow, of course,i cant bitch the damn car does hav 207,000 miles on it, i drive it everyday,& still runs high 14's-low 15's

Its called GM Lag. Almost all GMs have it when you punch it.

The harder you drive it the more it shows up. I've had a few GMs that albut cut out for 2 seconds when I hit the gas.

yea i hate the lag too.... ah hell run some Nitrous Oxide.. that will wake your car right up... I seem to speak often about this... anyone guess what i have planned over the summer?

i was thinking of installing a egr block off plate, but was waiting to find someone that already has it, so i know any disadvantages of it

Blocking it off will do well for you, however if you get emission tested, you will fail. I would just say go in for a tune up. It is your easiest bet.
