E250 Wild Growl Above 45mph

I'm stumped, does'nt take that much anyway.
Like the title says, I have a growl above 45mph, sounds like a bearing going bad. Checked the front end bearings everything appears to be tight and smooth.
Jacked the rear end up, spun the wheels, not much slop, a little gear slap, but no obvious bearing issues.
Never really had to deal with rear end issues, so I'm beyond my experience. Anyone with suggestions or possible trouble shooting ideas I would really apreaciate some assistance]
Thanks,
WDA

have you checked the fluid in the tranny and rear end?

Yes, levels about 1/4-1/2" down from the plug-best guess with a wire.

well, doesnt sound like that would cause it but id fill them up and see what happens, might as well since you need to fill them anyways.

Yep, topped off the trans fluid- took the beast out for test drive and low and behold, no growl. 50mph was the best I could get in the subdivision, little guys sleeping and the wifes at work- I'll see what tommorrow brings, however it apears to be solved.
Many Thanks & when did Ford trannys start doing this stuff?

I'm not sure what year yours is, but Ford started having a lot of torque convertor issues between 1993-2000..... Particularly the 4R70W, I believe this tranny is a lighter-duty version of what is in your E250 if it falls in that model range.... I have a 95 Marquis that has BAD TC shudder between 35-45.
