Do anti-theft lock lugs really work; if so what brand should i purchase?

locking lugs are a great investment for everyone not wanting to part with their wheels. a good set of locking lugs will run about 20 dollars for 4 and can be found usually at places like pep boys and other car care places. i would highly reccomend not buying the cheap ones cause you'll end up like me with 3 locking lugs on your wheels and the key in several pieces

the keys to locking lugs are created different so they should work pretty good. depending on the type of wheel you have should determine what type you get

I recommend McGard lugs. And they actually protect your wheel's finish.

Wheel Locks (Locking lug nuts) are a good investment if you want to protect your rims. In general, it's a smart idea to have 2 wheel locks on each wheel. Why? If anything happens, you still have 2 lugs, which are the 2 wheel locks, on the wheel to hold it down. If you have ust 1 wheel lock and you come out to all the none wheel locks removed, you have all the lugs expect the 1 wheel lock removed. Driving on 1 lug nut is generally not recommended. For a little extra $$, a second set of wheel locks place directly oppisite the first set helps with that issue.

When i got my Konig rims, i went out and bought enough locking lugs for each of the studs on the tires so it didn't look funny. I got internal key lugs that have a lug key inserted into them rather than over the top. The outside is round and can't be gripped w/ any tool i know of. They are a bitch to get off w/o the key (i lost it). With normal tools it is impossible to get them all off within a day or two. I would get a bunch of locking lugs, enough for every stud on each tire...and in my opinion the internal key ones. You might spend a little more now, but what did the rims cost you? You would spend a whole lot more getting another set.

That is one of the dumbest reason I have ever heard. You don't look funny with other stuff on your car?

OK let me explain...the rims i have show the lugs and they are pretty visible. If i had a couple of different lugs, then it would look pretty stupid. I wish i had pics, but my digital camera is busted right now. What i meant was that i got all of the same kind so that everything matched. I didn't want a couple different lugnuts on each tire because to me that looks dumb and cheap. Don't mean to sound like an ass, but if i did, i'm sorry.

I find that a little overkill, but hey it's your car :)

I can't imagine though since I change my wheel/tire twice a day on weekends sometimes more and couldn't imagine carrying all those keys and having to figure out which one goes to which lug :)
