wondering if anyone has a better way then i to remove small stuck on gasket fragments around the bolt holes, and oil vains on the oilpump cover without scaring the surface. ahhem. not that i've done that with lets say a flat head screwdriver, or anything else sharp and flat like a paint scraper. yeah.. =)

There's a tool called a gasket scraper, and it's similar to a putty knife. I'm not familiar with the oil veins you are talking about, so I can not imagine why you can't use a scraper.

im just afrade if scaring the aluminum oilpump cover. vfaq recomend using break cleaner. im going to try that. i have a gasket scraper, its scaring the surface.

at work we use a die grinder with a gasket remover/surface prep pad on it its basicly a scotchbrite pad kinda thing
