My 88 t-bird turbo had a new rack & pinion steering installed a couple weeks ago. Now it is pushing power steering fluid out the filler and trying to turn the wheel is like driving a Mack truck without power steering. Is there air in the lines or what could be wrong?

Air in the lines is definetly a possibility. Did you put a vacume on it to get the air out of it?

It pushed out about a pint or more of fluid and now it is working. The only thing is the pump is making a noise when I turn the wheels. It sounds like it is low on fluid but I checked it and it is at the full mark.
The fluid looks like it has a lot of little bubbles in it.

You need to pump the air out of the system.

Start the car then make repeated turns from lock to lock. You don't have to be moving. It'll help get any air out. Fords have always been famous for whiny power steering pumps, though.

Thanks for all the help out there.
After it pushed like about a quart of oil out, it freed itself up. I refillled it up to the full mark and turned both ways a couple of times and now it works great except for the whine which I can put up with.
Thanks Again
