Well there old stuff 'for other people peole' is hard to listen to but there new stuff is alot easier and it ahs more meaning to it. there are a couple of chill out songs on there new album that are fucking good and u wouldn't expect to hear it from them..pop into hmv and give em' a try. Stone sour is another band that Corey Taylor (lead Singer Slipknot) was in way before the 'knot' there a more traditional easy going rock band that are quite enjoyable to listen to give them a try aswell. But if u still dont like them, then its ur own choice and i respect that man.

Deff recommend Stone Sour, kinda proves that lead singer of Slipknot can actually sing instead screaming. Slipknot isn't that bad there are plenty worse bands.

I love Slipknot. I find it amazing how Corey Taylor and can scream with the best and still sing better than most. Definetly a good combo.

You also can't forget Mudvayne. I actually like them a little better than Slipknot because the bassist is just so damn original and great.

The bassist from Mudvayne is un-freakin-believeable. The last album he picked with his thumb. How nuts is that. Mushroomhead is good too.

Slipknot is in my top 25 favorite bands list definately.

I like slipknot's older stuff personally. Wait and bleed is my favorite track. And HELL YES to Mudvayne, I loved both LD 50 and The end of all things to come. If you like metal I recommend both albums.

For everyone who says you liked their first album.

You never heard it.
The self-titled is the band Slipknot's second album.

And thats when they started going downhill. And it's because of Corey Taylor. Their first cd was Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. It featured Anders as the singer and had a much darker tone to it. The subject matter was White Wolf games World of Darkness with references to Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Vampire: The Masquerade.

The second song off the second album entitled (sic) is an extreme bastardization of the self titled song Slipknot. Well, the music is a bastardized rip off. the Lyrical flow is as well. I guess Corey Taylor just had to take a good song and fuck it up eh?

Then they messed up Gently and I think one other song, I stopped bothering to care.

However with the new cd, Corey Taylor finally got it in his head that he will never be the dark man Anders was and lyrically took it in another direction. It sounds like Stone Sour on Magic Anger pills, and I like it. It doesn't sound like the work Anders did ripped up and thrown into a glue pot.

Cliff Notes:
First Three Corey Taylor Albums need to be destroyed, the new one is good, and Slipknot before Corey Taylor was wayyyy better.

let's be real, the new slipknot album is garbage. the first album and iowa were great, they stuck to what made them famous... anger and a lot of yelling. Corey should have left the mask on, because seeing that stone sour video really showed everyone why they wear masks... cuz they're fuckin hideous! anyway got off topic, the new album blows IMO.

Did anyone happen to see Slipknot play in Saskatoon last night? Unearth and Killswitch Engage were supposed to be headlining. A few of my friends went but I haven't heard from them yet.

I bet it was more than good...

My gf and a couple of her friends are going to the Slipknot show on 4-20. She made me listen to them, and they are growing on me. Its funny, because she doesnt like Slipknot at all. She wears little more than pink! So I laugh everytime she tells someone shes going to slipknot on 4-20.

I love the instrumentals, so heavy, still have to get used to the lyrics. When hes actually singing they sound amazing, but Im still not a fan of the screaming.

And the drummer is amazing.

i saw them at the 2001 ozzfest and they suck live. they're so many many members of the band and they sound really cluttered. maybe after a few years apart they've gotten to be a better live band.

Actually there 2 dudes on percussion - and yes they do kick ass live, although a little sloppier than American Head Charge.

ofcoarse they're going to look good on their own DVD. they're either going to pick their best performances or they're going to sync the album version of the song, to them on stage... which is usually what they do.

Slipknot fuckin rules!!! When I first got "Iowa", I was like "this is freakin sweet!!!" I hadn't actually heard them until I got the CD, but it was worth it. The "Disasterpieces" DVD is awesome!! Their new album wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but they still rule!!

Correction: There are 3 percussionists. There is 1 drummer and 2 auxillary percussion. Joey does drum set, Chris and Clown do the extra drums.

Joey is badass at the fast fills but hes no drumming god.

Listen to Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater then listen to him.............

of course the best drummers in the world are jazz/fusion drummers.....Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, etc

all I like about slipknot is joey.
I wonder how well he did playing with satyricon(due to frost having problems getting a visa) because frost is VERY hard to replace.

oh by the way....

^ ^ Lol no shit. Joey = doesn't exactly belong in black metal, but he's a helluvva good drummer. I was going to see that concert except my frikin cousin had to go and get married that day. Bastard. lol

Hey a side note - funkdoc, check out that "what is playing right now" thread. I posted right after you. It scared me shitless, cause I was listening to Hail Murder by Dark Funeral when I was scrolling through that thread, and was thinking about how I was gonna post that when I got to end, and then suddenly I read your last reply and you said you were listening to the same exact freaking song. Scared me shitless. And it was only like 20 minutes after you posted. It was so weird. What are the odds of that. It's crazyass shit. Go check it out.

BTW, it's great to have a fellow black metaller around here - Hails.

I control your black and evil mind!!! :D
hehe well I love all kinds of metal, not only black metal(and judging by your amon amarth sig you do neither) :)
Hmm I would love to see and hear joey play in an extreme metal band again, cause we all know he's a very talented (little) guy.I'd love to hear his REAL potential of playing,so yeah...let's hope(at least I do) :)

I don't want to start shit, but I did not state why I dislike them. Well...There lyrics aren't my style. I like the gutair sound. And drummer is OK. Theres much worse bands... One of the things that gets me is there lyrics make no sense/have no revelance...''I push my finger into my eye? Its the only thing that slowly stops the ache'' Who gives a f*ck?

yeah, i agree with j swigz on that i like there older stuff because they really didnt give a damn and went all out subliminal verses was kind of more passive and shit...im not dissing slipknot at all i love them but i think they should go back to singing stuff like people=shit exc.

Normally, I would give a well thought out reply to your statement, that is, if your name was anything other than "ricesucks".

And yoohoo, I agree, I like the crazy stuff, but its really refreshing to know that theyarent just a bunch of psychos that cant do anything but scream, and that they can actually make a really good sounding calm song, like Vermillion pt 2. Same thing with Avenged Sevenfold, and Warmness of the Soul.
