Dealer near me has a 2002 WRX stickered at $19,500 or so. I said I'd be interested if it were $17,000. They came back and said OK.
It's got 15,000 miles on it. It's kind of a dark red, which I don't like, but I could probably live with it.
So, $17k for a 2002 WRX with 15k miles?

17,000 with only 15k miles is a smokin deal. the cheapest i got around here for an 02 was 17,4 and that was from a private dealer.

Did you do some research?:
Kelley blue book says for 2002 wrx with 15k
trade IN:
good: 16,9
excellent: 17,8
private party:
good: 18,7
excellent: 19,8
although that's my zip code, it seems like a good deal as long as the car is in a good/excellent condition.

kbb is hardly based on real world selling and buyings. its more like a guide. i was quoted 18k from subaru for my 02 and it has some dings in it and 44k miles. wrx's with no mods in my area sell for $20,000 with same mileage roughly. i live in california.

id go for it.
heres a few tips though.
factory stock wrx's (basically no mods done to the car) sell for more, or cost more.
you would think getting more with the car would cost more, but it takes away from the cars value.
and for some reason the color World Rally Blue, or basically, that special subaru blue on WRX's also cost more.
ive seen 4 or 5 silver WRX's and they had good prices on them, i didnt buy a single one because i wanted that blue!
and every blue one i saw had a high price tag on it.
and the year 2002 for some reasons is a special year or something, because for some reason, no one sells them.
every one i saw for sale that was a 2002 had soemthign wrong with it, or it had high milage.
in my opinion, minus the color of the car, and assuming its mostly stock, its one hell of a damn good deal!
i paid 16,9 for mine, but i tried really freaking hard to find an 02 blue, and mine has 30k miles on it.
id take a look at ebay.com though just to be sure. (local sellers though save ya shipping)

Of course it's a guide. What a hell do you think it is??
You have take each car as an individual case, but using KBB, local market, or whatever market references as a guideline to make your decision. Having said that, the deal you're describing sounds pretty good, although we're given very limited information.

that’s pretty good, I paid $17,500 for mine and it had 20k miles. if you don’t mind red you seem to be able to get them for a good price.

Yeh, and if you really want blue, get the red one and spend a couple hundred on a blue paintjob at Maaco.

bad idea if you want to keep it for more than 2 years and under the hood and other small places would even look more like crap.

I've got WR Blue Pearl on mine. I just can't imagine having a different color WRX---it's so Subaru. Any other color would be like getting a non-red Ferrari.
I'm not sure about getting a cheap paint job though... is it gonna look right??

im so tired of the blue on subarus though :/. i mean...when i think of subaru, of course i think blue.....but i like a color that really shows off the lines of the car (like the Aspen White :D).

Well as i stated i think its a guide? dumbass. I was clarifying for shmackey just incase he took your info from kbb as being exactly what to look for.

Well, dumbass, what do you have to know "exactly" what to look for? What precisely do you have that reflect "real world selling and buyings"? KBB is not perfect but neither is anything else. If you can't offer anything specific to facilitate his decision making process, keep your mouth shut.
When you come back, do so after you learn some proper grammar and spelling...it's revolting.

Why do i care about your degrees? Did you post that to gain my respect or are you trying to prove that you're better? It didn't work. You're still a forum troll.
