deeper tranny pan

I've heard that there are deeper tranny pans on older vehicles that bolt right up to the 4L60E. Maybe the 700R4? The 700r4 pans are cheaper than the 4l60E ones on ebay. Has anyone heard about this?

just wondering, but why in the hell would you need a deeper tranny pan? far as I know, the pans are plenty deep enough.

The number 1 cause of tranny failure/wear is overheating. Having more fluid in your tranny can effectively combat this issue and prolong its life so I hear. I wasn't asking if I should, I was wondering if they would fit.

You sure yours doesn't have a tranny cooler?

I was wondering the same thing? I thought most of the blazers had tranny coolers. (if I'm wrong here, so be it)

Just what exactly would you be doing that would cause the tranny to overheat? I'm pretty sure the engineers at the factory take this into account when designing. (I know...look at the crap that breaks on them now)

And not to take away from the original question, I suppose they would bolt up as long as the patterns are the same. As far as making a difference either good or bad with increased amounts of tranny fluid, I'll take a guess and say it wouldn't hurt anything. An overfilled tranny isn't a good thing but I suppose the depth of the pan would make up for it. Seems like you'd have to change the dipstick and the tube as well to get an accurate reading.

Yes, I think all new blazers have the tranny cooler. It sends the fluid up through a section of the radiator.

Under towing conditions where more torque is needed, or if you upgrade your engine for racing purposes I would imagine there could be enough heat to do something to your tranny.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I do know Uhaul sells remote tranny coolers so more fluid is circulating.

Also, old tranny fluid can cause the fluid to overheat, so can a plugged tranny filter which is not allowing enough fluid through it to properly cool the transmission.

If you transmission is overheating, a bigger oil pan will not fix the problem.
