I'm looking to get some headers for my 1992 Camaro, it has a 305. I've looked around and there are a lot of choices. But which are the best?

Get some with good ceramic coating or they'll get ugly fast. Depends on what you're going to do, too. The place that put mine on said that I had to have the antlers. I resisted, and they said it was law. I got rid of the pump, and had to remove and cap off the ducting. Are you trying to work them into a stock system?

manual or automatic? Do you still want the Y-pipe, or true duals? For automatic w/ true duals, headman makes a full length header. But if you have a manual, or want to retain the "stock" style exhaust then any shorty header. If you want to keep it legal, Edelbrock TES.

well, i put on edelbrock TES headers, and feel this way.
installation - not to hard, simple hand tools, a lift, and patience made it pretty easy. just expect to have normal headaches associated with working on cars.
performance - AWESOME!!! i was very impressed with how the car ran after i put them on, i could definatly tell the difference.
maintanaince - i got the uncoated ones, so they got "ugly" but im not building a show car, so i dont really care, but the process of burning off the protective coating was a pain in the ass, it was like i had a major valve cover leak. and the main pain in the ass, i have yet to figure out how to get the spark plugs out. the primary pipes go right over the damn things. no room for a socket, and the wrenches dont get in onto the hex heads. so ill have to custom fabricate something to make it work.

Its an automatic, I'm looking to do true dual exhaust.

dual exhausts are not worth the effort on third and fourth gen camaros. they dont have the ground clearance, or the room to tuck them up underneith. a single 3in pipe from the front to the back will do just fine. and will allow you to do without the headaches of trying to put that true dual system in there. Besides, true dual systems arent all that benificial untill you start making alot of hp, like 600 or so. up untill that point, the single 3in pipe will flow enough to do the job.

Sorry Iroc, but I have true duals on mine. It really wasn't all that much of a pain. I've got Headman shorties made for third gen camaros, instal was pretty easy, don't have any problems getting to my plugs, and having the exhaust hung with my mufflers was only 150 bucks. The only down side is that I have to jack the back end up by the pumpkin instead of the frame. I'm really happy with it, sounds wicked, and the chicks dig it.

Oh, and since you have an automatic, you can get headmans full length headers, they're easier to install than the shorties.
