Problem with widened wheels

I'm modding a model by adding wide arches, and now that I've got a preliminary fit, I tried putting on the wheels, and obviously, they're not wide enough to sit flush with the fenders. So, I also widened the wheels to give them a lip, but I can't figure out a way to make the tire actually fit over the wheel. I know I can chop the back off, and make the wheel the same width again, but then I'd run into the initial problem of the stance not being wide enough. How do you guys solve this problem when you make a custom widebody?

If you widen the rim and them cut out a section at the back, the offset will be increased (well decreased in fact), so the wheel will stick out more of the body. If you want wider wheel, you'll have to find other tires to put on the rims

I usually have spare tyres and cut the centre section out 'carefully' then stick them together for a wider tyre.
