better performance

Hello,
will someone tell me more info about use of two or three electrode sparks?
do i need a supercoil? if yes, what else do i need to replace?
are these items safe for the electronic control?
i have an 89 cherokee laredo

Unless you are paying the same $ for the multi electrode plugs as for the standard, save your money for a better exhaust or another performance improvement.

My opinion is that they are mostly a marketing gimick - but that is just one opinion.

The spark will only jump one of the gaps each time it fires and it is the center electrode that wears away mostly too.

Just change the plugs regularly, use good gas and a low ash oil to keep the cylinder deposits to a minimum and you will be fine.

multi electrode spark plugs are better for very high mileage and oil burning , they do not foul up as often, other then that , i wouldn't bother, and maybe K & N air filter if one exist.

I heard that was for dragsters vehicles that just dump so much fuel in there they need all the spark they can get. In my old Blazer I had those spark plugs in there and it failed the emission test with them. Changed to platnium motorcrafts and now I am doing perfect.
How about K&N filter, high performance cat and a high performance muffler? Also clean the throttle body and fuel injection.

I agree with JD, everything I've read indicates that you're only going to get one spark from one point on the electrode (as an electrician it makes sense to me). Electricity follows the path of least resistance, and unless you can gap each point exaclty the same, you don't stand a chance of an arc jumping across multiple points at the same time. If you really want to increase spark, perhaps try one of those magnum hot coils on a high quality standard plug...

think of your motor as an air pump! the more air you can get in and out the better it performs, airfilter, larger throttle body, throttle body plate, headers and exhaust. stick with high quality plugs, wires cap n rotor and you should be fine and not hurt reliability :biggrin:
