when i am starting in first my engine starts to sputter like it wants to die or something, but once i am out of first it seems to run ok other than it is not shifting gears very smoothly. what could be the problem? transmition fluid? clutch?

Have you checked the clutch fluid? If it is low then the clutch will not fully dis-ingauge and can cause poor shifting and engine stalling/studdering. Is it hard to get it into 1st gear?

he's got a point about the clutch disengaging...if it's partially engaged it'll cause more load on the engine initially untill you get some speed going. I dont know if it's hydraulic or cable clutch, so if hydraulic: check the fluid level and check for leaks or air in the line. And if cable: adjust the cable and pedal freeplay. (that's only if that's your problem of course)

The 94+ integras are hydrolic and the pre 94's are cable. Just for future reference. :bigthumb:
