Tire problems

Well, I had my first minor car incident. I hit a curb in a parking lot and blew out my front right tire.
There's a whole in the sidewall about the size of a quarter.
The brand are Sumitomo tires. HTR+ - 245/45ZR17
Does anyone know of more reliable tires that aren't likely to blow out so easliy? I drive crazy sometimes...and I wouldn't like this to happen again.
Also, does anyone else have experience with these brand/make tires that cares to offer an opinion??

Check the air pressure on your tires to make sure they're at the correct pressure. If they're over filled then your more prone to blow outs. Also it dosen't matter what kind of tires you get if you drive into curbs with some speed your going to damage something.
