Can anyone help? In the winter, and only in the winter :screwy: . My heater blower has to be smacked under the hood everytime I start my Blazer to get it running. And like clock work it stops working as soon as I shut it off. I imagine this is a problem with the fan blowere itself. But where is it and how do I get it out and replace it  . Thanks for your help.

If you look at the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle you will see it in back of the wheel well. It has a purple wire going to it (usually). Four screws hold it in place, piece of cake to change. They are under $50 and most times come with the squirrel cage attached.

oops, forgot about the black ground wire attached to one of the mounting screws and it will ground on the firewall.

I can not see what it is you are talking about. I see a black and purple wired plug going into a black box that seems to encompass all of the parts in that area. I have A/C could that make a difference in finding and removing the fan blower. I have changed blowers before and they are like you mentioned stuck on the firewall with 1-3 screws but I can't even see where this one is. this black box I am referring to has lines and instructions that say for motor service cut here. Or tear line here. I think that motor may be inside that big mess and it does not look easy to get in to. Thanks again and wow that was fast reply.

You have a newer Blazer, don't you. I have never changed one of the newer ones. Better get a chilton's or haynes manual or maybe someone else will post that has done it. I have heard rumors to the effect that the heater box has to be cut but as I said, I havn't seen one yet.

Here is a great link, it appears that you have to do some cutting. Get your Dremmel out.

Yep you have to cut the black box. I used a gas powered pencil style solder iron with a point type tip and it mades a nice clean melt/cut or a very short hack saw blade but be carefull and take your time
