transfer case

I recently pulled out my transfer case because I noticed a leak and found a small crack in the front half. A local guy sold me a used front half for $75 and I got the old one apart and put them back together. The problem is I must not have got the gears lined up right. It will shift fine but it is not engaging the outputs correctly, it will lock up completely or it does not spin the back with the front. Does anybody have a diagram that will help me or other advise on the situation?
