I was wondering if any1 can give me any insight on why the hell my car bounces. I got tokico illumina shocks and skunk2 coilovers. I do got the car slammed and had the illuminas set at 5 at one time and it still bounces like i just cut the springs. Its embarassing cause the suspension wasnt that cheap. Everyone around here cuts there springs and heats them up. Neways i was wondering if it could be all my ball joints are shot? i did have to tear them apart several times and im sure the bushing is worn out. my car was dx and isnt equipped with any sway bars period, and i been wanting to install them on with ST rear with adapter kit and perhaps a front sway bar since now i got a SI front. but with that install maybe new bushing all the way around would stop that?>
thanks

which end bounces front or rear? when i first put my coilovers on, the front bounced like a boat on water, but the rear was stiff. i took off both whole struts and realized i forget to swap over one washer on each shock, and they weren't compressing. i took 'em apart and put in the washer, and presto, no more bounce. the front is still a little bouncy, but nothing too bad. by the way, i'm on Matrix coilovers on stock Si shocks. so i figure that's y my front still bounces a little. i'm waiting until spring to get some KYB GR-2's. anyone think they suck, let me know.

if you have it hella slammed its bouncing cause you have very little shock travel left so its basiclly bottoming out.

good point, didn't think of that, but i know mine isn't "hella slammed". just about 1.5" maybe 2". but very good point.

Yes. With shorter suspension meaning less travel and your car is more riding over the bumps more, so on a bumpy road it can feel like its bouncing. And with stiffer shocks it actually bounces even less than normal wich kinda amplifies this feeling.

I drive down one road thats so bouncy it makes my brain rattle. Its hilarious.

But I love the way a short suspension feels, its fun to feel so pulled to the road.

Have ya ran over any curbs lately? Do you live in a city that has streets similiar to a war zone? If so, do you get blasted and run over curbs and the craters in the streets at 80 MPH with 7MM's in the car? Could be why.

PSSSTTT....bottoming out shocks isnt good...pretty much blows them out right there if u dont have the bump washer in there....and if u put lowering springs on stock shocks....id advise cutting it in half

my friends accord bounce like hell; its because he had them so low that when the car hits a small bump the springs arent even under stress(like when you jack the car up you notice the spring isnt even pressed against the top part). best option if you want to keep it low, is to shorten the shocks, which also increases shock travel :)
