I have a 96 Cavalier, which currently has a factory cassette player in it, I'm looking to replace it with a factory CD player - changing out the whole in dash unit. I have found (on ebay) a replacement - but its the "monsoon" system - will I be able to switch the two or does the monsoon require something else to make it work in place of the standard system. I'm not worried about better sound or anything like that - just that its going to work when i put it in. Thanks for any help you can give me!

I know this isnt any help to you, but why would you want to go with a factory cd player? You can get a cheaper aftermarket cd player and get more out of it.
Just my two cents..

Agreed, most factory CD players don't output CD quality sound either. Plus they're ugly. I wouldn't pay for factory! Get an aftermarket, go to wall mart, buy a mounting kit and wiring harness. It's easy to wire the harness into your CD player then just plug it in the factory end. Use butt-end connectors on the harness, black electrical tape sucks and will fail eventually.
