tamiya light curing putty

just browsing thru hlj, i came across that. does anybody know its purpose? how is it different from epoxy or polyester putty?

It's a brand new release, I am sure there will be a thread about it as soon as somebody gets their hands on some.

It's probably just a spot putty for fixing things like sink holes and pin marks and instead of using an accelerator to harden, it's light activated to harden.

The only thing I don't like about it, is that it is very quick. Too quick. Goes hard in sunlight in about 1 minute. Under a fluorescent it takes 2-3 mins. With a close proximity 60 watt bulb (so I can see what I'm doing) it'll probably take about 1.5 minutes to go hard. Maybe that's enough, but it seems really short. You certainly couldn't work a body kit for half an hour.

From what I read on one of the Japanese modeling forum, the putty should be no thicker than 2 mm. But it cures very fast, so you can add putty in layers to build a thick object. Also it can be cut just like epoxy putty. It sound like it's useful for extending fenders and making simple lip spoiler or rocker panel.

Sounds cool. Might have to pick some up.
