I have a 90 Geo Prizm which has the Toyota 4A-FE and I want to put the Toyota 3S-GTE from the MkII or MkIII MR2 in it. What will I need to make that work? I am assuming it will need a new ECU, maybe motor mounts, tranny, what else? Also, which is the better engine, the MkII or the MkIII?

you may consider about buying a 4agze engine.... it would bolt right in. That would kill one problem. Also there is a web site that sells turbo kits for the 4afe. That would save time on having to install the 3sgte. You may want to rebuild it though.
here is the web site for the 4afe turbo kit

I have the same year and make of that car. I am recently having trouble with it though and maybe you guys could help me. The problem is that the car isn't shifting properly into second gear. It's an automatic too. It has to go about a mile or so in first gear until the car gets warmed up and then shifts smoothly. I've thought of a couple of things that could be wrong with it, from shifting oils to placing in new plugs. My last resort is to buy a new transmission but that is my last resort. So could someone help me. Is there anyone out there that has the same problems?

when is the last time you have replaced the dexron in the transmission? 100k is the ideal time. a new tranny should be easy to find for one of those. 88 chevy novas and 90 prizms are abundant.

Yea I recently just replaced all the oils and fluids including the dexron for the trans. And the transmission is fairly new to that is what is getting me. So should I start looking for prices for a new trans or find a conversion kit and turn it to manual?
